Who is IPMA-A for?
Certified Project Director
The candidate works in a highly complex project environment that has a strategic impact on the organisation.
In the last 12 years, the candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience as a project manager in a responsible leadership role in highly complex projects, including at least 3 years at the strategic management level. For the IPMA Level A certification, it is not possible to extend the 12-year period in which the candidate must demonstrate this experience.
Certified Programme Director
The candidate works in a highly complex programme environment that has a strategic impact on the organisation.
In the last 12 years, the candidate must demonstrate:
- a minimum of 5 years of experience as a programme manager in a responsible leadership role in highly complex programmes, including at least 3 years at the strategic management level,
OR
- a minimum of 4 years of experience as a programme manager in a responsible leadership role in highly complex programmes AND a minimum of 3 years of experience as a project manager in a responsible leadership role, managing highly complex projects at the strategic level.
For the IPMA Level A certification, it is not possible to extend the 12-year period from which the candidate must demonstrate experience.
Certified Portfolio Director
The candidate works in an environment of a highly complex portfolio that has a strategic impact on the organisation.
In the last 12 years, the candidate must demonstrate:
- a minimum of 5 years of experience in portfolio management in a responsible leadership role in highly complex portfolios at the strategic level,
OR
- a minimum of 4 years of experience as a portfolio manager in a responsible leadership role in highly complex portfolios AND a minimum of 3 years of experience as a project or programme manager in a responsible leadership role, managing highly complex projects or programmes at the strategic level.
For the IPMA Level A certification, it is not possible to extend the 12-year period from which the candidate must demonstrate experience.

IPMA-A summary report
Complete the above documents and send to the Certification Office at: ewa.zawadzka@ipma.pl
From the moment the candidate’s application documents are received, the CERT Office has 14
working days to check them and respond (request for supplementation or confirming
completeness). Once you have agreed a timetable for writing your paper with the Assessors,
you will write a project report using the template below.
